Matthew 1

That is a long genealogy... I heard once that there was a missionary working with some people who believed that one's authority was completely based on his lineage, and how far back he could trace his ancestry. So, when they translated the bible to their language, and it was being read outloud, in front of a group of the people, by the time they had finished reading Matthew 1, several people had already converted, because they realized that Jesus had the ultimate authority- with his lineage being able to be traced that far. But this story should be verified somewhere...
